Honoring the Life and Legacy of Elizabeth Alling Sewall

Over $32,000 Raised with Donations Still Coming | Team Elizabeth Rides PMC Tomorrow

Gordon Sewall, Rob Moore and Gerry Campos— together comprising Team Elizabeth— are ready for their inauguaral ride in the Pan Mass Challenge tomorrow, August 3rd. The team has raised more than $32,000 thus far, all of which will go directly to Elizabeth’s Endowment at Dana Farber. Gifts continue to come in at an accelerated pace. If you have not given yet, there is still time. The team is grateful for the generous support it has already received and continues to welcome donations of any size.

To donate, visit Gordon’s PMC page online OR make a check out to Pan Mass Challenge, and mail the check to Gordon at his new address: 57 Wheelwright Farm, Cohasset, MA 02025

Gordon says: “Our success in the Pan Mass will push Elizabeth’s Fund over $200,000 in less than 10 months. This an eye-catching accomplishment, and Scott, Duncan and I are humbled and honored by it. Thank you.”

Elizabeth especially wanted to support the development of new therapies targeted at lobular breast cancer which was a surprise diagnosis for her in 2011 after having been free from ductal cancer for nine years. Thus, her Endowment Fund at Dana Farber will focus specifically on better detection and treatment of this form of breast cancer. While lobular cancer accounts for only 10% of all breast cancers, it is particularly difficult to diagnose early and is particularly aggressive in later stages.

The photo above was taken of Elizabeth crossing the finish line at the Cohasset Triathlon on June 24, 2012. She passed away just over two months later. Having competed in a number of triathlons, she said numerous times that this one was her favorite because she and Gordon competed in it as a team. Elizabeth swam the first leg and finished the race running, while Gordon biked the second leg. “Together,” she said. “This one meant the most because we did it together.”
